Good VS Excellent

Do you know what makes the difference between a good teacher and a really outstanding teacher?  I read an interesting article the other day titled "What Doctors can Teach Educators" and thought you might enjoy reading it, too.

Easter is Over, Now What To Do With All Those Eggs?!?!

This Math Center Is One of My Students' Favorite!

I keep this one out year round, I think it is because the eggs are so colorful. Inside your leftover Easter eggs write math facts, the problem in one side and the answer inside the other.
For example: 11 x 1=  on one side and then 11 on the other side.
They can play this game all sorts of ways...
1. Play alone, just matching up facts
2. Play with a partner, just matching up facts
3. Play with a partner or alone, turning all the half-eggs upside down and using it as a match game. Turn over two egg halves of the same color to try to make a match! This is our class favorite!

I'm Fern Smith, my school's Teacher of the Year and 3rd Grade Team Leader.
If you haven't been to my blog, I'd love for you to drop by and follow me!
Thanks, ~Fern

Reading in the Middle School Math Classroom

Do you struggle with students who do not read problems thoroughly, or take time to comprehend what they read in your math classroom? I do! This four page lesson/activity will help guide students through making sense of what they read and eliminating answers from multiple choice questions because they simply don't make sense.

Mathbooking - April Fools' Day Journal Prompts

Here’s a free download of a booklet of math problems for your students to solve in celebration of April Fools’ Day. Mathbooking is a fun activity where learning math meets scrapbooking. Children can use their math journals to learn mathematics through words, numbers and drawing.

Also please check out my TPT and Teachers Notebook stores for more Mathbooking and other fun products!

Thanks so much!
